One
former general strongly believes George W. Bush’s invasion of Iraq
was the catalyst that created ISIS.
Lt.
Gen. Michael Flynn, who was head of special forces in Iraq and
Afghanistan, and who recently served as the former director of the
Defense Intelligence Agency, said the Bush administration’s
reckless march into Iraq created the power vacuum that allowed ISIS
to take over in the region.
“When
9/11 occurred, all the emotions took over, and our response was,
‘Where did those bastards come from? Let’s go kill them. Let’s
go get them,'” Flynn said in an interview with Der Spiegel. “As
brutal as Saddam Hussein was, it was a mistake to just eliminate him.
The same is true for Muammar Gaddafi and for Libya, which is now a
failed state.”
Flynn
is right — ISIS is not just carrying out acts of genocide terror in
Iraq and Syria, but has spread to Libya, where ISIS soldiers recently
beheaded over 2 dozen Christians. ISIS also has widespread influence
throughout the Middle East and North Africa, and even in
